The "Groundwater Data Utilities" expedite use of PEST with many common groundwater models. However many of them perform roles that are unrelated to parameter estimation, such as manipulation of MODFLOW/MT3D/SEAWAT input files, and processing of groundwater data prior to plotting and contouring.
A MODFLOW2000-to-PEST translator is also available. So if you have an input dataset for undertaking parameter estimation using the MODFLOW-2000 PES package, you can have instant access to the much more powerful calibration tools available through PEST.
See also a modified version of MODFLOW-2000 (named MODFLOW-ASP) that enhances MODFLOW usage in the parameter estimation context, including mitigation of some of MODFLOW's dry cells problems.
